Our Instructors

Brian Beardsley

Brian has worked full time in Law enforcement for over 16 years.  He is A DCJS General topic instructor, Fire Arms Instructor, Taser Instructor, Breath Test Operator Instructor, Laser and Radar Instructor.  He holds several certifications in crime scene and evidence processing.  He also instructs Active Shooter and Stop the Bleed courses.

In addition to his career in Law enforcement, Brian has been a volunteer firefighter/EMT for 24 years.  Serving at ranks from Assistant Chief down.  Brian is a National Certified Fire Service Instructor and has worked for DHSES for the past ten years.  Brian is National Certified Fire Fighter Level two, Fire Officer, and holds numerous certifications in technical rescue disciplines, emergency preparedness and hazardous materials response.

Christopher Menge

Christopher has been involved in the fire service for 20 years serving in multiple agencies and capacities.  He served 10 years as a military firefighter, including 2 tours in Iraq. He has volunteered for Hagaman Fire Department, and is an Emergency Management Coordinator with Montgomery County.  He is an adjunct Professor at Fulton Montgomery Community College. He has been a State Fire Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security Office of Fire Prevention and Control since 2006. Chris works nationally as ARFF instructor with 139 Fire. He is currently with the Albany Airport Fire Department for the past 14 years, with the current rank of Captain.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management from the University of New Haven. As well as being a Nationally Certified Fire Officer 4 and Fire Instructor 3.  He has two daughters and enjoys spending his time with them playing sports and watching their games.

Nicole Menge

Nicole is part of the leadership that created the company and keeps us running efficiently and effectively.

Nicole graduated from University of Oneonta with a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education and then continued on to the University of Albany to obtain her Master’s Degree in Special Education and Literacy. Nicole is a full time kindergarten teacher in Niskayuna at Rosendale Elementary School.

Nicole handles the bulk of the paperwork for the company as well as, keeping us focused and on track. The day to day responsibility of working with payroll, insurance, and billing takes up most of her time.

Steve Dorsey

Steve has been involved in the fire service since the early 90’s serving in multiple agencies and capacities. He started as a volunteer for The Delmar Fire Department, and in early 2001 was Hired as a firefighter/EMT at the Albany  Airport fire Department where he continues to work as a Captain. 

Steve worked as a State Fire Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security Office of Fire Prevention and Control for a number of years where he was assigned to Albany County.Steve holds numerous National Certifications including Fire Instructor 2.  He also currently works as Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Instructor on a National Level with 139 Fire.

Doc Berry

Andrew “Doc” Berry is a psychologist and psychoanalyst, and he practices in Clifton Park, New York. He is a subject matter expert, specializing in PTSD and other mental health needs of veterans and first responders. He has published on this topic as well as lecturing across the country at analytic Institutes, and both national and international conferences.

He was recently elected to the Board of the World Federation for Mental Health, and is the Regional Vice President of North America, as such. He is a Distinguished Practitioner and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice as well as a Fellow of the American Board of Clinical Psychology and American Board of Counseling Psychology.

He completed an associate’s degree (A.A.) in 1987 at Schenectady County Community College, a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from the University at Albany In 1989, his first master’s degree (A.L.M.) from Harvard University Extension School in 1992, and his first doctorate (Ph.D.) from The Union Institute and University in 1998. He also completed a second master’s degree (M.A.) and a second doctorate (Psy.D.) from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 2005 and 2007, respectively. He is also board-certified twice, in Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology, by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP.) Lastly, he completed a four-year certificate in the Division I psychoanalytic training program from the William Allison White Institute, in New York City in 2012.

He has taught psychology classes at the community college for approximately 10 years.

He is a volunteer firefighter and EMT with Niskayuna District 2, as well as being a proud Freemason. He is married and has two children.

We couldn’t be happier to have him as part of our team. His wit and humor are essential pieces of keeping us in good spirits in today’s world.

Thomas Miter

Tom Miter is a Battalion Chief (Ret) with the Troy New York Fire Department.

Chief Miter started his career in 1982 as an active duty Air Crash Firefighter with the U. S. Air Force.  After being honorably discharged in January 1986, he was appointed to the Troy Fire Department.  Over the course of his career, Tom has served as a Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, and since 2015 as a Battalion Chief.

One of his greatest accomplishments was earned during his 15 years as Captain of the city’s Rescue Squad. Under Tom’s leadership, his crew rescued three civilians, by ladder, from the third floor of a burning apartment building in the city of Watervliet.  He & his crew were awarded The Medal of Valor for their efforts.

In November of 1988, Tom returned to the Air Force as a member of the 109th Air Wing in Scotia, New York, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2010 with a total of 28 years of service.  During his tenure with the Air National Guard, he was deployed twice in the wake of the terrorist attacks on our country in September of 2001:  first in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from May 2002 – September 2002, and a second time in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from late 2004 – May 2005.  While at Balad Air Base Iraq, Tom earned an Air Force Commendation Medal for commanding the rescue of an airman who had fallen down a 40-foot air shaft at the former base power plant.  One of Tom’s greatest military achievements was being affectionately known as the “Big Toe” of the 109th Fire Department during his time there.

Tom has been married to his beautiful wife Sheri for over 34 years, and together they have three sons, three daughters in-law, and four grandchildren.  Two of Tom’s sons are also Firefighters with the city of Troy, and one of those sons is also a special operations airman with the New York Air National Guard.

Chief Dolan

Chief Dolan has worked in emergency services since 1995. He began his career with the Saratoga Springs Fire Department in September of 1998. Joe has been involved in several areas of the fire service. He was among the first group of firefighters to complete paramedic training through the department. He was an active Union Leader with the Saratoga Springs FireFighters Union I.A.F.F. Local 343 where he served in several capacities for 13 years.

Working his way through the ranks, Joe was promoted to Lieutenant in 2011 and assigned to fire prevention and codes for two years until he was assigned to a line position, where he was assigned to an Engine. In 2014 he was promoted to Captain, and assigned as a Shift Commander. In January of 2019 he was promoted to Fire Chief, where he continues to serves in that capacity.

As a student of the craft, Chief Dolan is an avid believer in training and education. He is a graduate of the Managing Officer Program through the National Fire Academy. This is a two year program where firefighters begin to understand their role as a managing officer. The Chief has completed the Fire Officer Three program in December of 2019.

In addition to his work in Saratoga Springs, he remains a State Fire Instructor in Saratoga County, where he freely passes on his knowledge and skill.

Chief Dolan is married to his wife Ann for over 20 years. They live in Saratoga with their two daughters. They spend much of their free time active in their children’s sports activities. Between sports activities, they enjoy travel and live music.

Sean Pecukonis

Sean was born on MCAS Iwakuni in Japan and received a BA from SUNY Albany. Since 2020, Firefighter Sean Pecukonis has served the Albany International Airport Fire Department and Calderwood Training Solutions. He started as a vaccine administrator and medical standby for Calderwood but recently has transitioned to teaching CPR and assisting in live fire training in Saratoga County.

Dan Farnan

Dan entered the fire service in 1994 starting off as a volunteer firefighter. In 1998, Dan completed his NYS EMT certification and in 2002 Dan became a career firefighter with the Albany Airport Fire Department where he is still employed today. He has held the position as the Assistant Training Officer.

Over the last 20 years he has become a certified Fire Instructor, OSHA instructor, CPR instructor and became a Airport Master Firefighter (AMF) . In 2003,he started with the Town of East Greenbush as a Police Dispatcher. For Calderwood Training Solutions his main focus of instruction is teaching CPR and OSHA training.

In Dan’s free time he enjoys spending time with my family at their camp in the Adirondacks, boating, jet skiing and on the trails riding ATV’s. He is also the President of the High School Football Club in Troy.

Pat Griffiths

Patrick Griffiths started in fire service in 1996 as volunteer with Grand Boulevard Fire Company (NFD#1). In 1999, he became an EMT from Schenectady Community College and went to Paramedic School in 2001 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica. Pat was hired by Niskayuna Fire District #1 in August 2004. Since then, he has been promoted to Lieutenant.  Pat holds a bachelors in Psychology and Fire Service Administration. He is also a State Fire Instructor and has taken part in the  First Line Supervisors Program at FDNY.

Jason Berry

In 2008, Jason started on his Public Safety Journey, he was a Dispatcher for the Warren County Sheriff’s Office from 2007-2017.  He became a NYS EMT August of 2008 after that he completed my NYS Paramedic in 2012.  Jason was hired  at the Albany Airport Fire Department in April of 2013, where he was able to obtain my Basic Firefighter Training totaling 229 hours. He then rose to the rank of Fire Chief in 2015-2018 at the Lake George Fire Department. He was hired at Colonie EMS in 2010 where he currently holds the Rank of EMS Captain. At Colonie EMS, he is apart of the flight paramedic, Colonie PD SWAT/TEMS and EMT instructor programs. Jason currently holds an Associate’s Degree in fire engineering, he has been in public safety for 15 years, but just started sharing his knowledge and experiences about 5 years ago.

Phil DiPompei

Phil started in fire service as an explorer at age 16 in 2002, and then served as a volunteer with the Shaker Road Fire Department holding numerous company officer levels during his tenure. He served as a Firefighter/EMT with the Albany Airport Fire Department where he obtained my National Fire Instructor 1, as well and National ARFF certifications. Phil is currently serving as a Firefighter/ Paramedic( HVCC Paramedic Program completion 2021) with the Watervliet Fire Department. He is a certified CPR instructor as well as working as Paramedic for both Colonie EMS and Malta Stillwater EMS. Phil enjoys cheering on his son’s at the baseball field in spare time, as well as traveling often.

Christopher Fuino

Chris started in the volunteer fire service with the North Bethlehem Fire Department at the age of 15 as a junior firefighter and rose to the rank of Chief. In 2004 he was hired by the Albany International Airport Fire Department where he is still employed as a firefighter. He currently holds several Pro Board Certifications including Fire Service Instructor level 3. He is passionate about leadership and training, always looking to advance himself, the people around him and the future leaders in the fire service. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his fiancé Ashley and his son Jackson.
